The Story of Palavi Sorte
Costume Designer | Creative Visionary | Founder of Samavetaa
For over 18 years, Palavi Sorte has lived and breathed the world of costume design, dressing stories with soul and emotion. Her journey began in the vibrant chaos of Mumbai’s entertainment industry—where long hours, fabric rolls, sketches, fittings, and the subtle magic of transformation became her everyday rhythm.
From humble beginnings as a costume assistant to becoming a lead stylist and designer for top Indian television shows, Palavi’s evolution has been rooted in one thing—authentic storytelling through clothes.
“I never just dress characters. I dress their dreams, their struggles, their moods, and the moments they live in.”
Through the years, she has worked on acclaimed projects like Kapil Sharma, Rising Star India, Indian Idol, Uttaran, Ek Thi Begum, Octopus Dadi, Smart Phone, Raisinghani Vs Raisinghani, and many more—earning a reputation for creating character-centric styling that feels real, grounded, and unforgettable. Her eye for detail and her commitment to visual authenticity has made her a go-to designer for emotionally-driven storytelling.
But in 2023, a deeper calling emerged.
A desire to create something more personal.
Something that blended the richness of Indian craftsmanship with the versatility of modern fashion.
“Samavetaa”—a Sanskrit word meaning assembled or united—is more than just a brand.
It is Palavi’s heartfelt ode to handmade, sustainable, and gender-neutral accessories designed for expression, identity, and celebration.
Each piece from Samavetaa is:
Handcrafted in India with love and purpose
Created for travelers, artists, dreamers, and rebels
Designed to bring style, soul, and sustainability together
From Sterling Silver Earrings, Hoops, Chains, Bangles to even Hair Accessories, Samavetaa reflects everything Palavi stands for: creative freedom, heritage roots, and inclusive design.
“Samavetaa isn’t just my brand—it’s my journal, my sketchbook, my prayer, and my rebellion.”
Today, Samavetaa is proudly worn by performers, stylists, and everyday people who seek something real—something that speaks to who they are.
Palavi continues to design for screen and soul—collaborating with filmmakers, styling music videos, and mentoring new talent—all while growing Samavetaa into a community-first, art-driven movement.
